figurative language and literary elements

In the book, Lupe used alot of repetition of how things in her world are miracles from God. Gold in the book is a symbol that represents money and being well off in society. If you had gold you could get away from the Revolution and protect your children from bandits. It's ironic that Lupe fell in love with a man who is a bootlegger(makes alcohol and card shark) and she hates alcohol and what it does to men. In the book Epitacio goes to the bar and spent all his wages on poker and lost it all causing his family to nearly strave to death."The world sang and danced before her very eyes as the cycle of life continued,". In this quote, the world did not sing and dance but Lupe was so happy and felt closer to the women in her family after she help deliver Maria's baby. The title of the book was also figurative language. "Rain of Gold" means that you found a load of gold anf thats while the town where Lupe lives is namen La Lluvia de Oro. Overall the book was filled with metahpors about life and appreiating the gifts that God gives you.
